La gita ad Harlem con coro gospel è scelta popolare
Qui una lista di alcune di chiese consigliate dalle guide.
Ma va sottolineato che si assiste ad una funzione religiosa.
Questo significa:
- la funzione comprende lettura dei passi della Bibbia, sermone, preghiere eccetera. [highlight]NON É UN CONCERTO[/highlight]. É una messa. Lunga, un ora e mezza non è improbabile.
- In chiese piccole, è possibile vi si chieda di presentarvi, piuttosto che assistere.
- Ci vuole rispetto, silenzio, educazione e abbigliamento adeguato: non flip-flop infradito e braghette corte.
Gli italiani si sono fatti riconoscere come turisti maleducati e vocianti.
- Non sono permesse foto o riprese.

- É gratis: non c'è biglietto. Un'offerta è però cortese ed educato.
- Nelle chiese più grandi, come l'Abissynian, è meglio arrivare presto, ci potrebbe essere coda per entrare.

Gospel Brunch, cioè pranzo domenicale con coro gospel.
Normalissimo locale che fa musica dal vivo, niente sermoni, potete arrivarci sbragati e fare qualunque cosa fa un turista.

Se serve la mappa, copiate la riga dell'indirizzo tipo "146 W 137th Street, New York City" su Google.
Ad Harlem giocano con gli indirizzi, streets e avenues in alcuni tratti cambiano nome.
la 6th avenue, da nord di central Park si chiama Lenox avenue o Malcom X blvd. Quindi la indico come 6th av./Lenox av./Malcom X blvd. anche se è la stessa strada, tutta dritta.
La 7th avenue è la Powell Blvd., l'8th av. Diventa Central Park west lungo il fianco del parco, quindi Douglass Blvd.
Anche alcune streets cambiano nome, spesso solo per un isolato o due.
Perché? Per far divertire i cartografi, si suppone...
