Qualche aggiornamento...

21-10-2010 - Tunnel in costruzione

11-11-2010 - Componenti per passaggio impianti

19-11-2010 - Plastico

Highlights of the 1st quarter 2011, from the 3rd Quarter Report:

• Complete Metal Deck to D35 for PATH Hall Roof
Subsequent to the PATH Hall steel installation currently on going, the installation of the metal deck will be the precursor to placing concrete in that area. The concrete will serve a dual purpose, as it will be the roof of the PATH Hall and the floor of the Memorial Plaza.
• Complete Installation of Super Columns
The Massive Super Columns provide the main support for the steel girders that span the MTA’s #1 Subway Line in the underpass area. Once in place, the girder installation can continue ultimately ending in the transfer of the load of the subway box from the temporary minipiles to the permanent structure in the area.
• Pour Roof Slab for 9A Underpass
Located in the western portion of the site, the 9A underpass provides continuous pedestrian access from the Wintergarden of the World Financial Center to the World Trade Center Site under Route 9A (the Westside Highway). Once the roof installation is complete, the finish work can commence in the pedestrian walk way.
• Substantially Complete D15 Wall south of the PATH Hall
Spanning almost the entire length of the World Trade Center Site, this critical wall running north-south provides structural support for the PATH Hall mezzanine and infrastructure for the construction of Greenwich Street.
• Begin Platform A Construction
PATH’s Platform A will be the first permanent platform for the new WTC Transportation Hub. As work continues, the temporary PATH station will be phased out as new, permanent platforms are built.

Fantastico il plastico!  Shocked

Grin

Una vecchia notizia sul costo dell'opera

World Trade Center Mega-Station Will Cost $3.44 Billion
By Myles Tanzer, Fri., Feb. 25 2011

via WTC.com
The World Trade Center Transportation Hub is set to be one of the City's most massive changes to New York's subway system. The building will have access to PATH trains, 13 subway lines and even the proposed JFK rail link. Sounds awesome, but how much will it cost taxpayers? The New York Post is reporting that the proposed cost will increase "by a staggering $180 million." (That's 40 million round-trip subway rides to work!) This brings the total cost to $3.44 billion.

The Post spoke to Steven Plate, the Port Authority's construction czar, who said "the sky-high white steel arches designed for the hub will cost $221 million." This expensive white steel (which is too "Miami Ceach" for our taste) is costing double what they originally thought it would. The new Transit Hub sounds incredible, but is the Port Authority spending too much money to meet our needs?

The Second Avenue Subway, the never-ending project from hell, came out with its own new budget last month. The final price tag is supposed to reach around $5.27 billion. So the Port Authority is spending a combined $8.71 billion dollars on two ginormous construction projects.

The G train "comes whenever it feels like it" and Brooklynites frequently have to wonder, "Is the L Train Fucked?" Shouldn't the Port Authority just make sure the trains that we already have run properly?

Programma per il secondo quarto dell'anno

2nd Quarter 2011

Platform A Construction Complete
The PATH stations’ Platform A will be the first permanent platform for the new WTC Transportation Hub. Work for this original October 2008 assessment milestone has been resequenced in order to also incorporate work on Platform B as well. The original plan had construction of Platform B beginning after Platform A was complete. The WTC Transportation Hub team is currently in the process of developing a revised plan that calls for work on both platforms to occur simultaneously, but original completion dates to be
pushed back. In the meantime, the PATH system at the WTC site remains fully operational and will remain so throughout construction.

Substantially Complete Core and Shell Construction of Zones 1&2 of the Route 9A Underpass
This represents the first two of five zones that are being constructed under Route 9A and will connect the Hub’s East-West Connector with the World Financial Center. The core and shell of the remaining three zones, being managed by Brookfield Properties, will be completed by early 4th Quarter 2011. The Route 9A underpass will be the pedestrian thoroughfare that connects commuters from the World Financial Center to the World Trade Center Transportation Hub’s East-West Connector, which will ultimately provide pedestrian access all the way east to the Fulton Street Transit Center. The Port Authority’s completion of the core and shell work within the World Trade Center site will correlate with Brookfield Property’s completion of the work in their portion of the site.

Substantially Complete Structure for VSC / Hub Interface Area
The VSC / Hub Interface area is a key location that connects the Vehicular Security Center with the Hub’s Greenwich Street Corridor below grade. In addition, the structure will provide the support for the Memorial Plaza and Greenwich and Liberty Street work at grade.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/

Leveraging its expertise in complex security system integration, Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is implementing advanced security solutions at the new World Trade Center (WTC) Transportation Hub in New York City. These integrated solutions will create a more secure environment at the hub, which is located on the historic WTC site. Diebold's integrated system will include the installation of video surveillance, access control and alarm devices throughout the hub. In addition, Diebold will expand the Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation's (PATH) existing security system at the PATH WTC station.

Slated to open in 2014, the WTC Transportation Hub will make Lower Manhattan the third-largest transportation center in New York and will re-establish the transportation facilities and infrastructure that existed at the WTC complex prior to Sept. 11, 2001. Housing the PATH rapid transit system, the hub will connect to 11 subway lines. It will also link pedestrians to the World Financial Center and Hudson River ferry terminals through an underground concourse. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey expects the hub to eventually serve more than 250,000 travelers daily.

A centerpiece of the project will be a state-of-the-art system for managing access to various areas of the hub. Diebold will incorporate access control points that will utilize both secure credentials and biometrics to identify and grant access to employees, contractors and security personnel.

Diebold's integrated surveillance system will enable the Port Authority to monitor all areas of the WTC Transportation Hub, including entrances, exits, rail platforms and other pedestrian zones, as well as high-priority areas such as electrical and telecommunication rooms. The implementation will also integrate existing PATH cameras, providing a consolidated view of the entire site.

Diebold will fully integrate all security solutions it has planned for the site into the WTC Transportation Hub's centralized telecommunications network. The integration will link multiple data elements associated with an event, enabling faster security response times. For example, a card reader alarm event will automatically display the video associated with that reader and initiate an action plan in the hub's command and control center.

In addition to the WTC Transportation Hub project, Diebold is leveraging its expertise in other areas of the WTC site. The company is building a centralized security command and control center for the new 4 World Trade Center tower, as well as integrating numerous security-related components into the center, including biometric access control, video, destination-based elevator control and a stairwell crossing system. Diebold also implemented a perimeter security video and access control system, which is being used to secure the entire WTC site during construction.
